GCI Brute set

This is for both Brute set GCI-01 and GCI-06.

Ordering with GCI

I placed these preorders in February 2016. After a LOT of drama regarding several delays and no word from the store, the pieces finally showed up in June 2017, over a year later and after having given up all hope I got my accessories.

Turns out that the back cannons and Blast off head from the GCI-01 set did not get produced (you can see here how they were supposed to look), so instead I got the guns from the GCI-02 set that I didn't order. The guns are pretty nice and I'm a bit bummed that I didn't get the extra fat back cannons, but I'll take what I can get after such long wait.

It is unlikely that anybody else can get their hands on this one off item. The problems and uncertainty were not worth it and many people got their money back. I whole heartedly recommend to NOT BUY from GCI toys given the extremely poor management and communication skills of the single person running the show.

Item review

The items are solid but still rather fragile, my package came with the 5mm peg for one of the guns broken but I managed to put it back with superglue. If one of the guns were to fall from a table to hard floor it would likely break. The elasticity that Hasbro plastic has prevents this kind of accidents.

They all have a gunmetal paint that affects the fit, so you need to rub and twist to make the pegs fit in the bots hands, This makes the guns from the GCI-06 set not to be able to combine properly since the pegs can barely snap together.

About the bigger guns, they come with an extra handle right next to the 5mm peg which makes it impossible to fit in many hands. The handle is only about 2-3mm separate from the peg so it will only fit in combiner hands or hands with very thin fingers area. Thankfully this works OK for Perfect Effect hands, and since it's a combiner size gun, it is unexpected usage to try to fit it on a normal sized bot, but a Leader class figure won't be able to hold it.

The feet are pretty useless. They are smaller than Perfect Effect ones, which could be good since some people complain about PE's being too bit, but the killer is the articulation. The plastic is very stiff and ball joints need to be really smooth to work, here the pegs will get stuck in a position and the ball joint will pop off before moving, and popping them back in is very difficult given the inelasticity of the material.

After all the rant. I think the designs are really good and will make my Bruticus look amazing.
