RID 2015 sure is full of original characters.

Stormshot (who was originally going to be called Skyfire) is a bit of an anomaly. He hasn't previously appeared in any form of media; this is the only version of Stormshot that exists. An all new mold of a brand-new character, in a line of toys sorely lacking warrior class versions of characters from the cartoon; strange, isn't it?

It's a good thing that this new mold is fantastic; it has to be, to even justify its existence. The articulation is good, the accesories are decent, plastic quality is mostly great and the design is g1-seeker-inspired but with a nice twist. I do wish he had wrist swivels; that seems to be something sorely lacking in many figures from this toyline.

To be honest, he isn't really necessary in your collection. This toy is the only version of this character, and he doesn't even show up in the cartoon. If you are a fan of new characters to expand your roster (and have some Autobot cannon fodder), like me, then pick him up; otherwise, give him a pass.
